How much does Wegovy cost in New Zealand?

⚕ Medically reviewed: pending (before launch)

Why Wegovy is a private cost

Because Pharmac doesn't fund Wegovy for weight loss, you pay for it privately in New Zealand. There's no subsidy for weight-management medicines, so the price you see is the real cost — the same whether you go through a GP, a private prescriber, or a telehealth clinic.

What you're actually paying for

A weight-management programme has two separate costs:

Out of pocket, people in New Zealand typically spend several hundred dollars a month all-in. We'll publish exact Changing Curves pricing before launch — founding-member pricing is locked in for people on the waitlist.

What changes the price

Is it worth it?

That's a decision for you and your prescriber. These medicines are only appropriate for some people (generally a BMI of 30+, or 27+ with a weight-related condition), and they work alongside diet and activity — not instead of them. A prescriber will talk through the benefits, risks and cost before anything is prescribed.

Wegovy®, Mounjaro® and Saxenda® are prescription medicines with benefits and risks; a prescriber decides if treatment is suitable.
