Who is lumelume for?

Adults in New Zealand who want a medical approach to their weight. Whether treatment is right for you is decided by an NZ-registered doctor after your assessment and consult.

Is lumelume available outside New Zealand?

No. lumelume is only available to people living in New Zealand. Our doctors are registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand, treatment is dispensed by a New Zealand pharmacy, and we only deliver to New Zealand addresses. We check where you are when you sign up and at payment, and we can't accept orders from overseas.

How much does it cost?

Programmes start from $449 a month, depending on your treatment and dose. You pay a $100 deposit to book your video consult. If you're prescribed treatment, we send a payment link for the rest of your first month.

Which medicines do you prescribe?

We can't name prescription medicines here. Your doctor will talk you through the options in your consult, including how they work and their side effects.

Is treatment funded by Pharmac?

No. Prescription weight-management medicines are not funded by Pharmac for this use, so they are paid for privately.

What if treatment isn't right for me?

Your doctor will explain why and suggest what to do instead. You're not charged for treatment you aren't prescribed.

What about food and nutrition?

Your appetite changes on treatment, and getting enough protein matters more than before. Your programme includes practical guides on protein, portions and eating out, and a care team to ask.

What happens if I stop treatment?

Weight often returns after stopping. In the largest trial's one-year follow-up, people who stopped regained, on average, about two-thirds of the weight they had lost (STEP 1 extension, Wilding et al., 2022). Your doctor will plan any change with you.

Can I cancel?
